Now that the US has gone to high definition TV, cable companies are providing extensive listings for most if not all programs. I live in Salem, OR and our cable comes from the ubiquitous Comcast. I recently noticed a description of one SyFy Channel program episode that gave me a good indication of just why this country might be having difficulties. The program was Destination Truth:
Issie/Icelandic Elves (2008): The team visits Lake Ikeda in Japan in search of an aquatic creature. Elves are sought in Iceland. (Reality)[1]
Yep, that explains why we have such fun getting reasonable, workable and sensible laws passed. This might be why there are school boards that want to teach Intelligent Design. It really explains Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin on the right; Michael Moore, the late Ted Kennedy, Nancy Pelosi and both Clintons on the Left. Do any of them have the slightest idea of the difference between a theory and a hypothesis?
I encourage you to think about this and then look at our educational system, but only if you have no loaded guns or sharp knives readily available. Suicide is a constant danger for anyone who actually thinks.
